Today I was super brave! Instead of just taking my sketchbook and camera out with me I took my paints and a prepared canvas. Here is the 'sketch' that I did in acrylic. I'm really pleased with how it turned out. Even though the brush strokes are very loose I think they suggest detail. I also didn't get mobbed by any inquisitive dog-walkers which was a blessing.

Two Moo Cows

This is a painting that I am especially pleased with. I used lots and lots of paint on the canvas which has given it a really interesting texture, then the details of the painting were created by softly running my brush over the raising surface which has given it an organic, natural feel. Well I think so anyway.

Well I've gone and done something silly. I was feeling guilty for not having any paintings on my eBay page to bid on, so I only went and put one of my £110 framed painting up for auction didn't I! Well the good news is you can now bid for Brambles And The Goldfinches.

You may have noticed that of late I have been painting more and more paintings with landscape backgrounds, I think it's because I just love Somerset in the Winter. The hedgerows are beautiful colours and the winter sun is bright. This time of year I also really love my thermal long johns!!!! :-)

Gert Lovely Dreams

I love colour and I also love to slosh paint around the canvas, not just because I'm a messy toad but also because texture interests me. With this painting I just let the paint do the work, the result was a dusky sky in beautiful purple hues and the rest of the painting just grew from there really. I was really pleased with the result :-)

French Dairy Farmers Delight (I Hope)

I was so happy to hear from a lovely woman last week who placed an order that made me smile. The lady was visiting England and had seen my work and decided to purchase three of my mugs for her neighbours in France who are dairy farmers. Pink and blue for the wife and husband and another blue one for the son - I just love that! I hope that they are very pleased with their gifts (and that I haven't ruined any surprises here).

Little Miss Sunshine

I think I subconsciously was rebelling against the hail and wind beating against the window of my studio when I painted this canvas. It turned out to be the sunniest painting I think I've ever created - so I named the work Little Miss Sunshine! :-)

Brambles And The Goldfinches

I am really happy to share with you this picture of my latest painting, as you can see it's a return for Brambles, although this time she is joined by same mischievous goldfinches!

I can't take all the credit for this painting, which is my personal favourite so far, as I was helped by some friends from my facebook page who kindly gave me some assistance when I got a little stuck.

See My Work on The Cafe

The Cafe is a wonderful new comedy written and staring Rolf Little (The Royal Family) and Michelle Terry and directed by BAFTA award-winning Craig Cash.

I was thrilled to have been asked to produce a series of paintings for the interior of the cafe which was actually built on the sea-front at Weston-super Mare in Somerset. The Cafe looks like a wonderfully funny show so I highly recommend watching tonight on Sky 1. If you are watching then keep an eye out for my paintings! X

Brambles And A Gert Hill

I had so much fun painting Brambles, for the Blue Cedar Art Gallery's exhibition that I knew I would be seeing her again! Brambles caused quite a stir at the exhibition really, she won an award which resulted in a photograph of yours truly in the local press (looking very embarrassed) posing with two FANTASTIC artists, one of which was my own personal idols, artist Myrtle Pizzey! Thanks Brambles!

I have been thrilled with the success of my Blue & White Cow Mugs, I sold out of the first batch super-quick! And I've had lots of very generous and kind feedback of which I'm very thankful!

One thing that I have been asked over and over for though is a Cow Mug with pink noses on the cows and pink hearts, I think that's a great idea!

So here is a sneak peek of my new Cow Mug! I hope you like it!

Do you know what? When I was adding the finishing touches to this painting the title just came to me. I am fully aware that that is not the most earth-shattering revelation - but it was kinda odd and kinda lovely. I think it may have been an association with the floral designs of a bygone time and the names from such times, any how here is Betty Moo Moo.

My new painting 'Gert Mooers' is a favourite composition of mine revisited. I often revisit paintings again and again, of course each is unique and ever cow has her own personality. There is something about two inquisitive 'mooers' both poking their heads into the canvas that just makes me smile! I literally sit there giggling when I paint and when I sketch cows in the fields near my home. Cows really are wonderful! I hope that I capture even just a tiny bit of their charm in my paintings?! I was experimenting with colour with this painting and I just love the blue background it was one of those happy accidents that just worked really well. Also have a close look at the chins, they look all fuzzy - from now on every cow I paint will have fuzzy chins :-)

Wos On Moo Moo

As I was having so much fun splashing the paint about doing my last commission I completed a separate canvas for eBay. As you my have read in the previous entry this is in the style of my older paintings. I have said before that one of the things I enjoy most about painting is slapping on lots and lots of paint on the canvas. What happens with the paint and the colours is very interesting to me almost as interesting as what I'm actually painting. Wos On Moo Moo is currently on my eBay page.

Cow Bag!

I'm so glad that my hand stencilled Cow Jute Bags have proved to be so popular. I love the size, I think it makes them a really lovely object - I know that sounds odd - but if you have one you'll know exactly what I mean.

Having said that I'm thinking bigger! And also I'm thinking MAN BAG! Ha!

What do you think? Lot's of my collectors are men and I think that a subtle cow design on a large shopping bag would be great!

Union Moo Cow

Well I've been enjoying a wonderfully productive day today! I've just uploaded two brand-new cow paintings onto my eBay page. 'Union Moo Cow' is one of them, one that I'm especially happy with. I just love that shade of blue, not quite teal but close.

So what to do now? Well I think I'll make myself a nice cup of tea (black no sugar, what, it's actually nice like that) open a big bar of dark chocolate and read the quite brilliant The Help by Kathryn Stockett. Have a lovely evening what ever you are doing. X

Three Lovely Moo Cows

A couple weeks ago I had the strange pleasure of seeing one of my old cow paintings that I hadn't seen for well over a year. It was really interesting to see had my style had changed in such a short space of time.

The painting had been sent from it's home in Ireland by a collector who had recently bought two more of my paintings from K-Craft Gallery and wanted them 'aged' so that they would fit in with their original.

I really enjoyed scruffying the two newer paintings up. Slapping on lots of paint and generally just having lots of fun. I think that you would have a hard job guessing which of the three above was the oldest. And I am very proud of the results and hope the collector will be too.

Did any of you notice last week was the first week since I started selling my cow paintings on eBay that I didn't have one for sale. Well I can tell you there was a jolly good reason for it. I've always had a passion for blue and white china and many years ago when I worked in a

Here is my latest cow on eBay, Gert Pinky. I love floral patterns especially the word famous Liberty prints and it's the latter that inspired this painting. Just another note; I'm particularly pleased with Gert Pinky's nose, sometimes my cows noses take me ages to get just right and sometimes they've perfect straight-away, that's how it was with this one :)

Each eco friendly jute bag is hand stenciled by yours truly so every one is unique and hand crafted, I wanted to produce a really high quality accessory for cow-mad people like me!

Here are two little beauties that I will be very sad to see leave my studio. One of the most enjoyable aspects of my cow paintings for me is the free application of paint. Yes that's a pretentious way of saying 'I love slopping loads of paint on the canvas!' I really do, I love just letting the paint do what it wants to do, I love the colours that it creates and I love the wonderful texture it leaves. With 'Dusky Moos' I wanted to capture some thing of the stunning skies that we've had here in Somerset recently (tonight's sky was again gorgeous) and I also wanted to keep the paint loose, I am very pleased with the result.

Well I've had a lovely day painting today, I've finished off two cow paintings including 'Gert Lovely Moo' which I'm very pleased with. I also worked on a giant 80cm x 80cm cow painting which I've recently been commissioned to paint - very excited to see how it turns out! I'll post pictures of that one when it's looking somewhere near complete.

Now I'm going to settle down and start a new book 'The Boleyn Inheritance' by Philippa Gregory that my Aunt lent me - Good night.

I would like you to meet these two lovely ladies from my latest painting 'Wos On'.

With all the beautiful weather we have been having of late I've taken to escaping the house whenever possible with a good book (quite often an Agatha Christie) to the riverside to relax in the sun. Whilst I was lost in the pages of a Miss Marple novel last week, soaking up the sun on the river bank I failed to notice two very inquisitive cows who were tottering up toward me on the other side of the river. It was quite a shock when I looked up only to realise with a start that I was being observed. Their humorous expression tickled me so much that I thought that I must put them onto canvas. Hare, Hills and Pheasants

The scenery on the journey between Bristol and Somerset is beautiful, it's a jaunt I often take. You travel through ancient woods and cross vast rolling fields separated by dry stone walls. If you are lucky you also get to see pheasants, lots and lots of gorgeous pheasants. I'm always shocked at how vibrant and rich their colours are in real life, to me they are the jewels of the countryside. These are some of the experiences that influenced this painting entitled Hare, Hills and Pheasants.

Well I've had a really enjoyable day today catching up on some commissions that I've been putting off. Painting is so effortless and satisfying somedays (other times it can seem a struggle). Since I was on a roll I also completed a new cow painting, 'Hello Bertha My Lovely' and I must say I'm totally thrilled with it! I've put this one on eBay to sell with a buy-now price of £85 inc P&P which is a total bargain I'm sure you'll agree.

Here are some Hare screen prints that I produced while I was at the wonderful Snap Studio in Bristol. I highly recommend visiting this beautiful little artist run print gallery/workshop on Lower Park Row. I spent a Sunday with a small group of friends producing prints with expert guidance from resident artist Freya Cumming.

'Hello My Lovely'

This is one of the first cow painting I ever created. I was inspired by the cows in the fields at the foot of Glastonbury Tor. As I walked back home from the gallery I passed them, I began taking apples with me to feed them (they look so funny chewing them), then I began to perch myself down on the fence and sketch them. Try as I might the drawings would not be in my normal style, they were loose and quirky and I liked them.
